The Freedom Speaks event will be held on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 19, 2020 at 6:00pm, at Wiregrass Church located at 900 W. Main Street, Dothan, AL. Doors open at 5:30 pm.

WHAT IS THE PRICE OF ADMISSION FOR THE EVENT?

Admission is free.

WHO WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN THE FREEDOM SPEAKS EVENT ON JANUARY 19, 2020?

High School students from all around the Wiregrass will be participating in this year's event. They will present either Lincoln's Gettysburg Address or an edited version of Martin Luther King's I Have a Dream speech.

IF YOU WIN THE EVENT AS AN UNDERCLASSMAN, ARE YOU ELIGIBLE TO WIN IN FOLLOWING YEARS?

 Most certainly.

WILL STUDENTS USE NOTES, PROPS OR COSTUMES IN THEIR PRESENTATION?

That will be left up to the student - understanding that this is not a reading contest. The students have been encouraged to present these words as if they were their own.

WILL ONLY THE WINNER RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIP MONEY?

No. The top three finishers will receive scholarship money.

CAN FAMILY, FRIENDS, FACULTY, STUDENTS ATTEND THE QUALIFYING EVENT AT WALLACE COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN DECEMBER?

No. Each student will present to the judges panel only.

WHAT ELSE CAN WE EXPECT FROM THE EVENT?

This year's event will feature a keynote address from Precious Freeman, Managing Partner of BFC Management and Executive Director of the G.W. Carver Interpretive Museum, along with other inspirational and entertaining elements.
